FlowCapture is designed to be local-first. This policy explains what information the FlowCapture web app (flow-capture.com) and the FlowCapture Recorder Chrome extension handle, and why.

1. Your guides stay on your device

Guides, steps, screenshots and settings you create in FlowCapture are stored in your own browser's storage on your device. We do not upload them to our servers, except in the situations described in section 4.

2. FlowCapture Recorder (Chrome extension)

  • The extension only works when you click Start recording. It records the clicks, form fields and choices you make in the tab you are recording, and takes screenshots of that tab.
  • Password, card, CVV, social-security, token and account-number fields are blurred before each screenshot, and their contents are never written into step text.
  • Recordings are stored locally in your browser. When you click Send to FlowCapture, the recording is handed to the FlowCapture web app in your browser and saved on your device. You can also download it as a file or discard it.
  • The extension does not send your recordings, browsing history or any other data to FlowCapture's servers or to anyone else. It does not use analytics, ads or tracking.

3. Purchases and licenses

When you buy FlowCapture Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We receive and keep your email address, your subscription status and your license keys so we can deliver, verify and support your license. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the payment itself.

4. When information leaves your device

Only when you choose one of these features:

  • Share links and embeds: if you publish a guide as a public link, that guide (text and images) is uploaded so others can view it. Anyone with the link can see it. You can unpublish it at any time.
  • AI features (Pro): if you use Screen Recording or YouTube/Video URL extraction, the recording or video link you provide is sent to our processing service and an AI provider to generate the steps. It is used only to produce your guide.
  • Contact form and support emails: the details you send us.
  • Basic site analytics: our hosting platform records standard, aggregated usage information (such as pages visited) to keep the service running.

5. What we don't do

We do not sell your data. We do not use your guides or recordings for advertising. We do not use your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

Guides stored in your browser are yours. You can delete them any time in Settings → Clear All Data, or by clearing your browser storage. Purchase and license records are kept as long as needed to provide your license and meet legal and tax requirements. To ask about or delete information we hold, email hello@flow-capture.com.

7. Children

FlowCapture is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the new version on this page.
